Hanging porcelain lamps with holes in them, holes filled with embroidery. The inspiration comes from my mother’s and grandmother’s handicrafts, in their treasure trove of textiles, in classical patterns and textile materials: embroidery thread, rug rags, wool and lace ribbons. Lively, disorderly and colourful creative joy.Where are these crafts today, do they exist? I want to do something with clay, it lets me know what it can stretch to, we find a compromise. I work partly according to what I have already decided, and partly in complete freedom. What has been decided ties things up and reinforces them, while that which is free fills in and strengthens the whole. All the lamps have a form, and the embroidery is never the same.
Hängande porslinslampor med hål i, hål fyllda med broderier. Inspirationen finns i min mors och mormors handarbeten, i deras textila skattkammare, i klassiska mönster och i textila material: broderitråd, mattrasor, garn och spetsband. Livlig, rörig och färgfylld skaparglädje.
