Ceramics and Glass
This year’s students have been faced in their bachelor’s degree projects with the most complex task a future graduate can face: to formulate, structure and undertake within predetermined parameters and on an artistic basis their own creative work based on ceramics and glass and at the same time record their reflection on the process in text. During their weeks of work they have all been required to formulate questions, develop appropriate methods. At the same time as they are advancing their knowledge they must open out to the future and the world around them in their practice.
A bachelor’s degree project in ceramics and glass at Kontsfack is based on three explicit steps: a project description, a preliminary presentation and a final examination. Here practice and theory are made visible and combined, the spring exhibition displays the creative work to a large and interested audience. The process is demanding but also very rewarding. The work itself is often important for the students, they are given a chance to develop their creativity to the full with all the knowledge they have acquired during their years at Konstfack.
During the process the students learn methods that will later enable them to structure major artistic undertakings (as part of or outside an educational programme), they become aware of their strengths, how to overcome weaknesses, what they themselves consider important and how they can react to others. In creating their own project they take the first step towards the development of knowledge in ceramics and glass. This year’s students have surprised us, challenged us and filled us with pride. Their works mark the end of a programme, but the beginning of something fantastic.

Årets studenter har under sitt kandidatexamensarbete ställts inför den mest komplexa uppgiften man möter som blivande kandidat; att inom givna ramar formulera, strukturera och genomföra ett eget gestaltande arbete som vilar på konstnärlig grund med en bas i keramik och glas och samtidigt reflektera över detta arbete i text. Under veckorna av arbete har de alla ställts inför att formulera frågor, utveckla lämpliga metoder. Samtidigt som de fördjupar sina kunskaper ska de öppna upp för en framtid och omvärld genom sin praktik.
Ett kandidatarbete inom keramik och glas på Konstfack bygger på tre tydliga steg, en projektbeskrivning, en delpresentation och en slutexamination.
